Honduras

Honduras is in the middle of Central America, I travelled into Honduras by bus from Guatemala. On top of exploring Maya sites, my time in Honduras involved exploring the Pico Bonito National Park, before ending my trip with snorkelling in the Bay Island of Roatan.

Best Time to Visit

Honduras is an all year-round destination, but the dry season between December and April is generally considered the best time to go. Be aware that the humidity does cause the temperature to feel hotter than they are during the wet season.

Things to do and see

  1. Roatan is the largest of the Bay Islands on the northern coast of Honduras. The reef surrounding the island is a popular diving spot to see tropical fishes, sea turtles, dolphins and whales.
  2. Pico Bonito National Park is a great place for outdoor pursuits, you can go kayaking, rafting and hiking in the forest.
  3. Lake Yojoa is fast becoming a popular tourist destination in Honduras, the volcanic lake is surrounded by cloud forest mountains where you can go hiking, birdwatching and explore ancient ruins.
