Europe is in the Eastern and Northern Hemisphere. It is bordered by two Oceans the Atlantic to the west and the Arctic to the North, the Mediterranean Sea lies to the south. The unification of Europe began in 1949 with the Council of Europe eventually leading to the European Union which includes all European countries except Albania, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Belarus, Kosovo, Macedonia, Moldova, Norway, Iceland, Russia, Serbia, Switzerland, Turkey and Ukraine. England has handed in its notice, but we are still officially in the E.U as of 2018. The currency of most countries in Europe is the euro so you won’t t have to change your money as often as you think if you decide to backpack Europe. The European Schengen zones has gotten rid of most borders in Europe, allowing anyone with a Schengen visa or a European passport to travel freely to all European countries. With England (My home country) on its way out of the European Union I’m hoping we don’t lose our right to travel freely, as I have only travelled 24 out of the 50 countries in Europe. I have enjoyed travelling within Europe there is so much to explore from the Renaissance art in Italy to Island hoping around Greece I have visited most of the popular parts of Europe, I’m from London and of course consider my city to be one of the best in Europe, if you have the money. The Balkans, however, is my favourite part of Europe, most of Eastern Europe has less tourists and is extremely cheap the people are so welcoming, and you can do most of it easily by bus. And of course, the beautiful scenic nature, culture and historic buildings make the Balkans for me a great place to start.
